Make Your Mom's Day

By The Daily Obsession | 4/30/2012

I love Mother’s Day, but I always have anxiety over what to get my mom.  I want it to be a great present, but one that she can enjoy right away too.  Luckily, after years of her not caring much about beauty products, I’ve finally converted her to the dark side and now she’s almost as into them as I am.  It makes buying gifts so much easier!  Here are a few of the things I’m considering picking up for her this year.  (No peeking, Mom!)

Pacifica’s products are some of my favorites because they smell wildly different, but each one is amazing in its own way.  I can’t get enough of their products lately, so I want to pass on the obsession to my mom.  If I had to pick my favorite scent, it would probably be Tuscan Blood Orange (it’s insanely good!) so that’s the one I want her to try.  The Tuscan Wanderlust gift set is only $29, but for that, you get a bunch of different products scented with that fabulous fragrance – Body Wash, Body Butter, a Spray Perfume and even their new Lip Tint.  It’s a seriously great deal and I can’t imagine any mom that wouldn’t love it.

My mom’s always on the hunt for a new perfume that she can’t get enough of, but buying a big bottle of fragrance for someone is always so iffy because if they don’t like it, you’ve wasted a lot of money.  That’s why I like to give people fragrance samplers, like The Fresh Florals Deluxe Fragrance Sampler For Her from Sephora.  For $42, you get five deluxe samples of some of their most popular fresh, floral scents, which just happen to be my favorites.  (They won me over when they also included a CLEAN sample).  This way, your mom can try the different scents and decide which one she likes the best and then go buy herself a bigger bottle.  (Or you can sneakily get her to tell you which one it is and buy it for her).  Plus, the samples are the perfect size to travel with, so if she’s constantly on the go, like my mom, that aspect will make her even happier.

Those are two of my favorite affordable options, but if you’re looking to splurge on Mom this year, you can’t go wrong with Crème de la Mer.  It’s uber-expensive, but as many, many people can attest, it’s also expensive for a reason.  It really works.  My mom isn’t nearly as anal about her skincare routine as I am, so I’d love to get her using this moisturizer on a daily basis because even though she would never spend that much on a cream, I know she would love it and see results.  I’ve used it and just adore it.  If I had the money, I would bathe in the stuff!  A one ounce jar is $140, so it’s definitely not cheap, but it’ll definitely score you some brownie points when she unwraps it.

Happy Mother’s Day!
