In the autumn/winter 2012-13 season, most fashion designers chose to show their clothes without much embellishment, according to the Daily Telegraph’s fashion correspondent. Some designers, including Domenico Dolce, Stefano Gabbana, Sarah Burton and Karl Lagerfeld, opted for statement jewellery pieces to complete the mood of their collections.

Here are the major autumn 2012 jewellery trends for you to get inspired.

Jewellery in neutral tones

Nude, dusty rose, white, crème and milky stones incorporated in jewellery pieces are in fashion this autumn. Look through the world famous Pandora jewellery collection to find trendy pieces such as sterling silver freshwater pearl stud earrings or drop grey pearl earrings that can complement even tough-chic outfits designed by Givenchy or Lanvin’s tightly-belted dresses.

Disco style jewellery

Pieces inspired by 1960 and 70s are mostly soft polished silver and gold items in geometric shapes. Many of the pieces feature textured stampings, resins and enamel accents as well as movable parts. Opt for white, ivory, brown and black single plaited leather bracelets which you can wear up and down this autumn and add a few vintage enamel charms to complete the retro look.

Nature themed jewellery

The autumn botanical trend is all about colours. Select jewellery in the muted colour palette of greens and browns to brighten up your autumn outfits. You can bring a bit of nature to your everyday look by wearing Pandora readymade wood “earth” bracelets featuring Muiracatiara, Curacao De Negro and Pau Amarelo wood beads. Add a green swirl Murano glass bead to the bracelet to brighten it up.

Tribal themed jewellery

Traditional tribal colours mixed with brights are also trendy right now. Seed beads, resin stones, feathers and shield rings are all the elements of the tribal vibe. A readymade “Icelandic waterfall” bracelet completed with a sterling silver and black crystal pave charm can add to the tribal vibe inspired outfit. Add a few charms to fabric and leather necklaces in black and brown to create unique fashionable jewellery pieces.

These are the major jewellery trends of autumn 2012. Remember that wearing the right jewellery may help you add the finishing touch to your outfit and even transform the same clothing from day to evening by a simple change of accessories.
