Best Illuminators For Winter

Two of the most important things to consider when it comes to choosing a highlighter are texture and skin tone. You can use a liquid highlighter or one in a pressed powder format. If your skin has yellow undertones, choose a highlighter with pale gold. If your skin has pink undertones, choose a rosier shade. Champagne shades tend to look good on everyone.

There are three basic ways to use a liquid/cream highlighter. First, you can mix a few drops into your liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer for an overall glow. Second, mix highlighter with concealer to create a brightening undereye concealer. And finally—my preferred method—highlight the high points of the face only.

Places to apply your highlighter:

  • Top of the cheekbones, in a small circle around the eye socket area
  • 3/4 down the bridge of the nose
  • Above the cupid's bow of your top lip
