Here’s how to get your own red carpet look.

1. Shine On
When hair is styled straight and parted in the center, maximum glossiness is a must-have. Start by cleansing and conditioning with a shine-enhancing duo like Bumble and bumble Let it Shine Shampoo and Conditioner ($22 and $24, Sephora.com). Both contain sunflower oil to remove dulling residue while preserving natural oils. Then apply new Dove Nutritive Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Antifrizz Serum to damp hair and let air-dry. The serum smoothes flyaways and adds shine without weighing hair down. ($6 at drugstores) Then wear hair natural or use a curling iron to softly shape the ends.

2. Master the Liquid Liner
If there’s a perfect makeup partner for statement red lipstick, va-va-voom liquid eyeliner is definitely the one. Mastering liquid liner may take some practice, but the glamorous results are worth it. Start by applying a primer to the lid area to help the liner stay in place. (Try Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, $19, Urbandecay.com) Then, using the liquid liner, trace a fine line as close as possible to your lashes. (To get an easier angle to work with, tilt your head up and look down.) Trace the liner across your lash line, and at the corners, make a little uptick, as if you were continuing the line of the bottom lashes. Then fill in the corner area, and go over the line again if you want to make it thicker and more dramatic. (Try Rimmel Glam’Eyes Precise Design Liquid Eyeliner, $5.99 at drugstores)

Keep the rest of the eye makeup simple. Check out Anastasia Beverly Hills Bright Eyes, Big City Brow & Eye Collection to get a look that’s neutral, but still glam. The collection includes shimmering bronze shadows for eyes and brows, brow gel, and mascara. ($39, Anastasia.net)

3. Apply a Luxe Lip
Cheap red lipstick can dry out and fade, so invest in a creamy formula that will last for hours. Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick in Red Muse ($34, Sephora) is a favorite with celebs and beauty editors because of its deep pigment and glossy shine, not to mention its ability to plump and smooth. If your lipstick tends to feather or bleed, try applying DuWop Reverse Lipliner ($19, Shop.duwop.com) to the outsides of your lips to make color stay put.
