It’s hard to overestimate the love we have for Olivia Wilde, who once described herself as “warmer than the average taco.” Who has been courageous and kind and generous in her support of the Half the Sky Foundation. Who is engaged to Jason Sudeikis. Who is, in fact, a very funny lady.
And it’s hard to overestimate the glam factor of the smoky eye she wore to the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. The skin, the eyes, the lips…we love it all. Here’s how to get it.
The best foundation for luminous glow-getting is a cream-to-powder formula. Try Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation ($28, Beauty.com), which contains tiny particles of mica to reflect and deflect, for a look of radiant awesomeness. On top, dust a bit of powder to set the foundation and cut down on shine. We’re obsessed with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, which comes in different formulas to mimic different kinds of flattering lighting. For evening elegance, try Luminous Light ($45, Sephora).
Start by applying your favorite primer to create a tacky base for shadow to cling to. Then grab a palette with several coordinated shades, which makes creating a smoky eye so much easier. We Love Urban Decay’s Naked 2 palette ($59, Ulta). Using a small shadow brush, apply shadow in Busted to the lid and lower lashline, blending into the crease. Then use a medium shadow brush to apply shadow in YDK to the crease as well, blending up toward the brow bone.
Next, wet an angled liner brush and dip it into Blackout, using the powder shadow as a liner in the inner rims on both the upper and lower lashline. (If black powder liner is too tricky, grab a soft, skinny pencil like Noir Cosmetics Ultra Rich Black Eyeliner, $16 at Beautybar.com.) Finish by using a large shadow brush to swipe a layer of sparkly opal shadow in Verve all around the eyes, especially in the inner corners, then applying two coats of blackest black mascara like Diorshow Blackout ($25, Nordstrom) on both the upper and lower lashes.
With eyes this show-stopping, wear a pearly lipstick in a shade close to your natural lips. Try L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lip Balm in Rose Elixir, ($5.97, Walmart) Last, dust a light coral blush like By Terry Terrybly Ultimate Radiance Blush ($75, Beautybar.com) on the apples of the cheeks.
