Holiday Makeup Must-Haves From Urban Decay

Urban Decay has always been one of my favorite brands, but around the holidays they always kick things up a notch and offer even more makeup goodies.  Walking into Sephora or ULTA when their new products come out for the first time is almost better than Christmas! It's that good (or bad, depending on whether you're my credit card)! This year they have a plethora of great gift sets that you'll want to pick up for yourself or maybe for a (very) lucky friend or relative.

Everyone knows about the genius of UD's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils. They're the eyeliner of choice for tons of makeup artists, celebrities, and many, many everyday ordinary people. They're just the perfect pencil; they apply easily with minimal tugging, blend fabulously, set quickly and come in a fantastic variety of shades—everything from the deepest black to bright green.  I use at least one in my stash almost every day.  For the holidays, you're going to want to get your hands on the new Ocho Loco 2 set.  For $59, you get eight full-size pencils that would normally cost you $162. You’ve got to love the value sets!  The key thing here, and what makes it a must buy, is that out of the eight, five are brand new shades that you can get for the first time here.  Finding a brand new 24/7 shade is always fun, so getting five at once is very exciting.  It also comes with a Grindhouse Double-Barrel Sharpener which is so useful because I swear, no matter how many sharpeners I acquire, I can never find one when I need it. So I'm vowing to put this one in a special place where I can always use it to keep my favorite pencils sharp and ready to go.

Another thing that UD excels at is eyeshadow. They recently revamped their formula to make it better than ever, so even if you already have a lot of their shades, that should give you an excuse to spring for a few more. The Vice Palette 2 is another sequel that you'll want to pick up even if you don't have the original version. For $59—apparently their favorite price point—you get a collection of twenty different eyeshadows, again, in a variety of shades. I love that about their collections, you can always use them to create looks for the office just as easily as you can for a night out—they're really versatile. I wish they were smaller so I could more easily travel with them, but that's my only tiny complaint about the palette. Otherwise, the shades are fantastic. I particularly love Stash, a deep olive green shimmer with iridescent micro-sparkle, and Voodoo, a metallic purple shimmer with iridescent purple micro-glitter.  Both of them are perfect for creating a colorful smoky eye. You'll be all over it.

And of course, no post about Urban Decay's holiday products would be complete without a mention of the most anticipated release of all, the Naked 3 palette. I cannot wait to get my hands on this one!  Naked and Naked 2 are both cult favorites that sold out almost immediately and Naked 3 is following right in their footsteps. As I'm writing this, the palette just appeared on Urban Decay's website this morning and is already out of stock, so hopefully it'll be back soon. It'll definitely be at Sephora and ULTA by the holidays.  It's a collection of 12 brand new rose-hued neutrals, everything from pale, shimmery pink to deep black matte with rosy red micro-glitter.  Doesn't that picture look amazing? I'm obsessed with my Naked and Naked 2 palettes and use them constantly, so I'm sure this one will be the same way. And rose-hued tones flatter everyone, so it has a wide appeal built in. I cannot wait to play around with this one!

Urban Decay should definitely be on your Christmas wish and buy list this season. Urban Decay for the win this holiday!
