I can’t resist a good holiday palette. They have all the ingredients for makeup hype at it’s finest: limited edition, special edition colors, a retail value that's two or three times the price, and sometimes the thrill of the hunt due to their popularity.
Here are six palettes you’ll want to snatch up before they’re sold out and a little about what makes them winners!
1. NARS Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection Limited Edition One Night Stand Cheek Palette $65
When NARS does a blush palette, they don’t mess around. Their last blush palette, Joie de Vivre, sold out right away and was barely attainable even via eBay. Yeah, trust me I tried. The Guy Bourdain collection contains three permanent colors including the ever-popular Orgasm, and three limited edition colors. This palette is a $145 value and if you love the richly pigmented, silky blushes from NARS, grab this before it’s gone.
2. Kat Von D Spellbinding Eye Shadow Book $55
In this palette you get 24 richly pigmented jewel-tone beauties for $55, which is a steal. It breaks down to about $2.30 per shadow for lovely, silky shadows in juicy colors. Actual value is $108. You can’t go wrong with this purchase!
3. Too Faced Joy to the Girls Palette $46
Too Faced palettes have never steered me wrong. I am continually impressed with the buttery texture, amazing blendability and pigmentation. This is not only an excellent value for 15 shadows and a full size LashGasm mascara and a well-rounded selection of colors. I love the neutrals with a few wildcard shades throw in like Joy and Twinkle. This palette has the biggest retail value out of all of them at a whopping $275!
4. Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette $59
What more can I say about the almighty Urban Decay that hasn’t already been said? Their Vice 1 palette was released last year and flew off the shelves like a red-nosed reindeer. It was very hard to get your hands on the Vice 1 and many regretted not buying it after it never returned. Have no fear, Vice 2 is here! The palette contains 20 top-notch shadows in a gorgeous palette with a brush included. I am particularly partial to Coax and Toxic. Urban Decay makes some of the best shadows in the business so their palettes are always a good idea and this one is heavily coveted.
5. Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes $48
If I could create the perfect wearable palette, these are the colors I would include. I absolutely love a mostly neutral palette with purple thrown in. Every girl needs a little purple in her life. Valued at $108, the Artist’s Palette for Eyes is organized with a top row of cool shades and a bottom row of warm—the perfect balance.
6. Tarte Off the Cuff Amazonian Clay Blush Palette $42
Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blushes are some of the best blushes money can buy. Their staying power is mega and the colors and finishes always look natural and fresh. Anytime Tarte puts out a blush palette, you must pounce as it’s usually only at holiday time. The value is always amazing, $110 for this one, and this palette comes with a bonus cuff that is completely wearable and adorable.
