Nail Color Trends For Summer 2013

From a seafoam green reminiscent of a certain mermaid's fins to the soft orange cream of a beach sunset, the seaside is getting some major play this summer. We love the turquoise, tangerine, and pink shades that make up this oceanic nail color trend. Bonus: These colors—especially Deborah Lippman's Mermaid Dream—look great with a tan.
Silver and bronze metallics are nifty nail shades that work with anything in your closet. We love the gold-and-silver-dipped shades that are popping up on shelves this summer, like Tom Ford's Burnt Topaz and Silver Smoke at Neiman Marcus. Magnetic polishes are also part of the metallics movement this season—and they have us swooning. This fishnet-effect line from Nails Inc. uses magnetic particles to create textured patterns on your painted nails and it's definitely a show-stopper.
From camel to beige, nude nails tinged with hints of shimmer will give you a polished look this summer. Choose from shades within the mocha family or go for a lighter peach shade. Nudes are great for looking pulled together without having to really think about it. We love YSL's Beige Leger.
Smooth like butter—that's what a nail should look like! Sweeten up your nails with a pastel yellow like this one from Butter London, or try a sweet pink or lavender shade—Laura Mercier's Lavender Cloud is one of our favorites.
Neons are back and better than ever. While it's been more than a few years since the days of the scrunchie, those vivid shades of electric blue and hot pink are making a new claim to fame. Try Illamasqua's Collide or Bobbi Brown's Pink Valentine.
