Nail It! Winter’'s Hottest Polish

It can be tough to feel beautiful in winter. When lips are chapped, skin is dry, and hair is hidden under woolen hats, many of us don't feel our best. Since so little is on display, the smallest flash of color can make all the difference, and this winter is full of polishes so hot they'll melt even the deepest snow drifts.

One Less Lonely Glitter, Justin Bieber for Nicole by OPI

The One Less Lonely Girl Collection of polishes, released by the Bieb in support of the charity Pencils of Promise, features shades named after his hit songs. One Less Lonely Glitter, a deep and sparkly lavender, is fun enough for teen fans, yet sophisticated enough for those who rock out to “Somebody to Love” in secret. ($7 at Walmart)

Sephora by OPI Goes Gleek Chic Collection

Get your Gleek on with any of the polishes from this limited edition collection celebrating the smash hit Glee. Slushied, an opaque powder blue, and Miss Bossy Pants, a shimmery raspberry, are on-trend standouts. ($9.50 at Sephora)

Gris Montaigne, by Dior

Although technically a part of Dior’s Spring 2011 collection (and inspired by the Dior boutique in Paris), gray tones are perfect for wintertime too, and a great option for those with short, square-shaped nails. ($21 at Sephora)

Midnight Express, by NARS

This season, NARS re-released some of their most classic shades as a limited edition collection. Midnight Express, a rich navy, is a perfect pick-me-up for cold and snowy nights. ($16 at Narscosmetics.com)

Le Vernis Riva, by Chanel

This cool, icy-blue shade, part of Chanel’s Resort 2011 collection, is just as perfect on the beach in St. Bart’s as it is paired with a wooly sweater. ($27 at Chanel)

Teenage Dream, Katy Perry for OPI

Winter’s glitter fascination shows no sign of abating, and Katy Perry’s Capsule Collection for OPI (which also features the Black Shatter topcoat) is full of glittery, girly, glamorous fabulousness in a bottle. The shimmering pink Teenage Dream is a cotton candy–like confection straight out of Perry’s videos. ($9 at ULTA)

Very Important Platinum, by MAC

Adding a touch of shimmer to last year’s popular greige shades, this pearly, platinum polish is a favorite from MAC’s winter 2011 Cham Pale collection. ($13 at Maccosmetics.com)

Across the Universe, by Deborah Lippmann

The ultimate glam polish, Lippmann’s formaldehyde- and tolulene-free polish is a magical metallic peacock shade. ($18 at Deborah Lippmann)
