Summer Skin: Get Glowing

Summer skin... What exactly is it? I define summer skin as fresh, glowing, and minimally made up. Whether you’re in a dry climate or a humid one, summer heat isn’t exactly makeup friendly. And the last thing we need in the summer is perspiration and makeup teaming up to create an unhealthy environment for our skin.

I’ve got a combination of skincare products and some lightweight makeup options to create a glowing complexion this summer!

Facial Peel
I’m all about peels. At home, in the office… I love peels! The Origins Brightening Peel is my favorite because it’s powerful enough to make my skin super smooth, but it’s more gentle than most peels because it’s made from fruit acids. It says to use twice a week; I use it three times a week, but start out with two and see how your skin adjusts to it. If it does well, try three times a week. You’ll notice brighter, glowing skin in no time!

Lotion with SPF
Many times I hear women complaining about sunblock because they tend to be greasy and leave a white ‘mask’ behind. Totally get it… But the fact is that no SPF is not an option! Sun protection is a must. Thankfully, Peter Thomas Roth makes my favorite face lotion in an SPF 30, (oil-free!) and it’s lightweight with no white residue. The Max Sheer All Day Defense Moisture Lotion is enough to quench dry skin while protecting from the sun, and the consistency is ideal as a base for makeup. It feels just like any lightweight moisturizer; couldn’t ask for better from a sunscreen.

Moisturizer
I’m a big fan of the Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Illuminating Moisturizer for several reasons: Besides giving skin a radiant glow, it’s formulated with chamomile extract as well as Vitamins A, C, and E. It’s for all skin types, but especially if you tend to get extra oily in the summertime, the Amazonian clay is perfect for balancing out the oil in your skin. Personally, I prefer this product by itself in the warmer months. But you can mix it with just a bit of your favorite foundation for more coverage. In the summer, though, try to stay away from a lot of foundation. Let your skin breath!

Bronzer
I cannot say enough about theBalm's Betty-Lou Manizer! It’s just the perfect golden bronze shade. It looks like a bronzer at first, (which it is, really) but when I lightly buff it all over my face, I get the most beautiful golden glow!! It’s as if I took an airbrush tool and just perfected my skin, leaving a smooth, golden appearance. And it blends right into my skin so it’s a nice sheer formula. It’s the ideal product if you’re headed for a casual day out and just want an all-over glow. And, make no mistake: There’s no shimmer here. It’s all glow, baby!
