Studded Suede Heels
I love award shows; I love the fashion, the competition, the anticipation, the speeches, the applause, the joy, and the tears. I love the underdogs and the unscripted moments, and I love the escape. With Ricky Gervais hosting, this year's show will have no shortage of laughter, applause, and tears, and with nominees like Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway, Colin Firth (swoon!), and Halle Berry, there'll be no shortage of glamour either. I'll be watching from my sofa, safe from the paparazzi and Ricky Gervais, but wishing I was wearing something chiffony with these gorgeous beige suede heels with studs and rhinestones. I'd hike up my gown on my way up the steps to be sure everyone could see them …

Relic Earrings
One repercussion of watching Hollywood parade its shiny Sunday best at award shows is the desire to make more of an effort with my own daily getup. I can't exactly incorporate Dior or Winston into my daily rotation (have to save something for the weekend!), but I can include subtle hints of glamour with accessories. These classic-but-modern Relic earrings would be a special but wearable addition to any outfit; they're based on sketches of an ancient stained glass window, and I love that they are sculpted in wax before being cast by hand. Available in sterling silver, yellow gold, and rose gold.

If I was attending an award show with Kanye West (and why not?), I'd carry my lipstick, phone, and handcuffs (to prevent him from hopping on stage) in this structured cocktail gold bar clutch from Matt Bernson. It has a polished leather outer with satin lining and a magnetic closure. I can hear Kanye now: "I ain't saying she's a gold digger …"

Gold Tea Pot
I often fantasize about actually attending the Globes or Oscars and getting all dolled up, making small talk with Robert Downey Jr. (I just know we'd be besties), and sipping champagne from crystal goblets. Truth is I'd probably order tea for fear I'd trip up in my gown or conversation. I wonder if tea at the Golden Globes is served in gold pots? Luckily, I don't need a nomination to get this beautiful porcelain teapot with gold finish from Dutch design label Pol's Potten for myself! It's so pretty, it merits a speech every time you make tea.

I loved when Mickey Rourke remembered to thank his dogs a couple of years back when he won a Golden Globe for The Wrestler. He said, "Sometimes when a man's alone, that's all you got is your dog." I get the feeling Rourke didn't sweat his speech, but I wonder how many drafts everyone else goes through in preparation? Completing the sentence "I'd like to thank" is not as easy as it seems. I might write a hit screenplay this year, so I should probably get myself a few speech-worthy notebooks, like these creamy gilded leather ones with tasseled cord. No matter how many versions I draft, I can't imagine thanking my cat …
