Silver and Pearls
I recently stumbled across Dublin-based jeweler, Clodagh Molloy, and I'm thrilled with her simple but striking designs. See, I was brainwashed with a "Buy Irish" ad campaign growing up, and while I have no problem buying Irish food, ceramics, and textiles, I haven't found that many Irish jewelry designers I can patronize. Well, now I have Clodagh and her beautiful handmade bracelets, necklaces, stud, and drop earrings made with fresh water pearls wrapped in sterling silver wire. Great gifts; can't wait to share this find with my mother!

Bouquet Clock
My mother lives in Australia now so she's always watching the clock trying to guesstimate the right time to call me in New York and my siblings in Ireland. Thinking it would be a lovely gift to get my mother a set of handprinted Bristol Paper clocks from DecoyLab––one for each time zone––so that at least she'd be watching pretty clocks. Designs include die-cut flowers, horses, cuckoo-clocks, and a charming night-owl clock.

Flower Power Healing Bath
Mom doesn't just deserve flowers on Mother's Day. She doesn't just deserve flowers every day. Mom wiped your butt, nose, tears, and her memory a few times, and as a small thank you, she deserves to bathe in flowers for the rest of her days. This Flower Power healing bath from Angel Botanicals summons the healing powers of rose and chamomile to soothe mom's rattled nerves, and the properties of lavender, red clover, calendula, epsom salts, and essential oils to soothe her aching body.

Bud Vase with Net
Forgo the expected flowers this Mother's Day and instead gift a lovely hand-crafted bud vase with a creamy white glaze and handwoven knotless net (made of Irish waxed linen thread). Mom will love its simple elegance and will also likely enjoy that it supports a struggling artist. Per maker Michael McDowell's Web site: "I tried to follow a somewhat regular path to financial freedom, but I have finally given in to my heart and the pull of destiny and am now a full-time starving artist."

She & Him
Running late with your Mother's Day gift? No worries. Purchase and download M. Ward and Zoey Deschanel's first recorded collaboration––She & Him, Volume One. It's new music that sounds like old music with cool covers such as "You Really Got a Hold on Me" (previously performed by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles). Mom will love it. Especially if you buy her an iPod to play it on.
