Adele's "21" Tops U.S. iTunes Chart of 2012

It’s raining recognition for 24-year old music artist Adele. Ever since she released her album titled ‘21’ in 2011 there has been no looking back for her. One recognition after another has simply been pouring in for this ambitious star. One of the noticeable of them all being the fact that this album continues to dominate the billboard charts for two years back to back. (2011 and 2012). That’s not all going by approximate figures this album has crossed the 10 million sales mark. No official information is available on the number of copies sold this year (2012). It’s certainly true that anybody with a high speed internet connection would have at least checked out for her album in the iTunes Store.

For artist Adele this is an achievement by all means considering the fact that the year 2012 witnessed the launch of music albums by high- profile artists. Mumford and Sons’ launched their second album Babel and Taylor Swift also released her album ‘Red’.

The list of achievements does not stop with this. The James Bond starrer Skyfall’s the official theme song landed her a nomination for the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards respectively. This year Adele won six Grammy awards for the record of the year, best song and album of the year.

The album titled ‘21’ features smash hits like ‘Someone Like You’ and ‘Rolling In The Deep’. Adele is recognized of being the first British female artist whose album sold 10 million copies in the United States. Artists like Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Madonna have sold 10 million copies of their album in the U.S.

Singing sensation Adele was named the biggest selling artist in the iTune charts and for having the biggest selling single and album. She was also named as the iTune artist of the year.

We will have to wait and watch what Adele has in store for us in 2013.
