Based on Love (Part 4)

She left for a few days and went to the beach with her family. Her brother had a conference there for work, and they went together every year. She loved the beach, but she still called him to talk all of the time. She was in her dad’s fourth wedding that summer also. He got married on the beach in town; the ceremony was terrible and it was too much for her to take. She was the maid of honor and wore a pink dress and pearls which she completely hated. During the wedding she left and went to the beach to skim with a friend. She had no interest in being there at all for such a waste of time event. At one point, her mom was actually going to let the two of them go on vacation together with her and the girls little sister. That only lasted until she found out that they were dating. Her mother cancelled her text messaging and became furious, even though the girl didn’t understand what she had done wrong. They were both completely disappointed, he had never even been on an airplane before, and this was his first chance. She went on the trip without him, stuck alone with her mother and younger sister. She missed him a lot, and was constantly forced to play the 59 second games with him just to talk.

The opportunity of another vacation came up, and she jumped at it; the girl had never been on a cruise before. Being in foreign waters, she couldn’t talk to him on the phone, and only barely got to speak to him briefly online. The trip was amazing though, and she told him all about it when she got home. She arrived not even two full days before school began, and didn’t see her boyfriend until the first day in their hallway. This year, she drove to school, but she didn’t have her own car just yet. She got to school as early as she was allowed to, just so they could be together. They had no classes together again this year, but they did manage to snag the same lunch period. She became a student volunteer fourth period for a photography class, and he went with her daily. They got a chance to eat together somewhere a little more relaxing, and go into the darkroom to work on their art, and on each other.

They were in the darkroom helping the students, but not as often as they helped themselves. They would sit together in the darkroom and hold each other, or sometimes just talk about anything that popped into their heads. Sometimes things between them went too far for school rules to allow, but no one ever found out. They boy was always funny when it came time to leave class; he would hold onto her so tight that it was almost impossible for the girl to leave his side. She never minded, he was always so beautiful. They walked together to every class, every day, and he almost always held her hand. They never fought much, but when they did, the arguments always seemed very minimal. Sometimes they would get upset over the most insignificant things, but they were sure to always make up.

Football season started shortly after school, and they decided to go to their first varsity football game alone; they decided a lot that night. He picked her up during late September in his red car since he was also now able to drive. They rode to the field, and immediately realized they were not getting a parking spot by the stadium. He parked by the nearby elementary school and walked hand in hand to the game. They ate and watched the first few quarters of the game, and then found themselves relatively bored. Neither of them really cared about the game. They just wanted to be together that Friday night; and they definitely were.

They walked out of the game and back towards his car, and on the way back they jumped a fence to a small play ground by the school. He pushed her in the swing and they played together in the tubes and slides. Kissing every so often, as they frequently did, they finally started to relax. They walked to his car and sat down inside to decide what to do with the rest of their night, even though their minds were already made up.

They kept on with their kissing up front and then decided to fold down the seat to his trunk and lay down together. In the now slightly larger backseat of his two door car, the covered up and relaxed. The car was off, and the air was thick inside after a short period of time. They kissed more and more until the boy’s shirtless back was up against the side of his car. He held her close, her blue tank top getting drenched in their sweat; but she wouldn’t take it off. His long hair stick to them both, and got caught in her mouth almost every time they kissed, but they ignored it that night.

He began to undress her, and they kept kissing in the hot air of his backseat. They were down to the bare minimum and began to explore each other again in the dark. Cars drove by, but they paid them no attention, as the windows were still clear. For the first time, she slowly slid on top of his body; neither of them having the true space needed to move. He kissed her neck and they took their chances with open hearts. Neither of them had ever breathed like this before and they held each other close in safety. They moved around as much as they could in such a small area; a challenge even though they were so close.

Again, they came together that night, fans cheering in the background. Once they finished, they stayed next to each other and hugged as tight as they could; as a couple, they were not going to let something so serious to them pass by so quickly. This was to be one of their secrets, and neither of them would ever tell. They whispered their “I love yous” and they lay back down together under the stars, as calm as they had ever been.

Time passed by, the same Ramen noodles and Cheez-it sandwiches for lunch every day. October rolled around, and they took their first trip to the fair together. Five of her photos were on display, so they went and saw them before they did anything else. The boy laughed at the way she screamed on the Zipper, even though it was her favorite ride. They rode on the sky line and sat close together in the sky, he held her up against him the whole ride. The boy tried to win her something, but he wasn’t a fair game expert; he gave her a small bear holding a heart that read “I love you.” She thought it was beautiful, and smiled every time she saw it.
