The first two weeks of July are busy for our family. My husband, son, and dad all have birthdays within the first two weeks—there’s also that day that we celebrate on the fourth day—something about independence (haha)!
So needless to say, I’m always busy planning birthdays and get togethers. Those occasions send me out on the hunt for party supplies. A few days ago, I was in a party store and they were ALREADY stocking the Halloween aisle! It wasn’t even the fourth just yet … the skies were still waiting for the firecrackers—there were token meats waiting to be grilled and eaten—and already someone can buy a scary clown wig or realistic pig nose? I mean I can’t even begin to think about Halloween until at least Labor Day … I just think it’s crazy that Halloween is just about four months away and already stores are selling the merchandise. Can we just enjoy summer? But I guess you could also say the say things about Christmas…. I’m sure at 12:01 a.m. November 1, you could buy a tree somewhere.
There are at least three more months of warm weather … there are still summer dresses to wear, lots of outdoor time, poolsides to be enjoyed … there is still summertime to enjoy … I love Halloween just as much as the next normal person. I love to bake cookies patterned after ghosts and pumpkins and going to the parties; I love taking my kids to complete strangers houses to petition for candy. I love the weather—there’s just a bit of a chill in the night air. But even still let’s put thoughts of celebrations four months away in the back of our minds! We can talk pumpkins and goblins later!
