Until a few hours ago, the Cricut machine was completely foreign to me. Now, I would consider myself a pro! Okay, definitely not a “pro” but I was at least able to make a birthday card. With the help of one my fellow craft editors, I navigated my way through using the Cricut machine. If I can do it, so can you! One of the perks of working as a craft editor is getting to play around with cool new products. Hence, my first experience using the Cricut.
The first step was just to think up an idea. I have a friend with a birthday this weekend and even though I’ve already purchased her a card from the store, as crafters I’m sure you would agree, handmade is always more special.
Once I decided what I was going to make, I simply flipped through the Cricut booklets for inspiration. I came across an adorable cupcake and was hooked on that idea. As in most cases in life, cupcakes win. To go along with that, I found the appropriate phrase “It’s Your Birthday” and added it to my list. “Happy Birthday” is too generic whereas this phrase really stands out (yes, you sense sarcasm).
While cupcakes and overused birthday greetings may not be the most unique of choices, since this was my first go at using the Cricut I decided traditional was the best route. And hey, these images still helped create a super cute card!
Now that I have all of my pieces cut out it’s just a matter of playing around with the placement and adding some final touches. It’s not finished but I wanted to share what I have so far with all of you. With one use of the Cricut machine you could say I’m a Cricut believer!
