Eight Ridiculous Celebrity Feuds (We Declare the Winners!)

  • Gwyneth Paltrow vs. Kate Moss

This rumored feud began in March 2012, when Gwyneth Paltrow bumped into Kate Moss while running on the beach. The following conversation (or something similar) ensued:

Moss: “Why are you out jogging, Gwyneth?”

Paltrow: “So I don’t look like you when I’m older, Kate!”

Moss: [Furiously throws the potato chips she’s eating on the ground] “Why don’t you eat some f****** carbs!”

[Paltrow frantically runs off, or maybe they get in a catfight.]

Okay, so this probably didn’t happen (Paltrow’s rep denies it), but if it did, the biggest surprise has to be the fact that Kate Moss actually eats fatty potato chips.

The Winner: Gwyneth Paltrow. Based on the hypothetical conversation above, Paltrow was making a joke, which Moss took way too seriously.

  • Jon Hamm vs. Kim Kardashian

It seems that the whole world is more than willing to spout off about how much they hate Kim Kardashian these days, but Jon Hamm is one of the most recent and memorable additions to the club.

During an interview in Elle UK, Hamm said Kardashian’s ascension to fame and fortune proves that being an idiot is a valuable commodity in our society. Always quick to defend herself, Kardashian said his comments were “careless,” which led him to defend his comment—and insult her even more.

The Winner: Jon Hamm. His comments were witty, intelligent, and well, true.

  • Elton John and Madonna

These two (sort of) British divas battled it out in the Best Original Song category at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, and like a true sport, Elton John (with the help of his hubby) threw a temper tantrum when he lost. What makes it even more embarrassing is that John was talking smack on the red carpet, and then, of course, he lost.

Since Madonna is better than everybody, she brushed off John’s childish behavior. After all, they’ve been fussing since 2004—surely there are several decades left of diva behavior to deal with.

The Winner: Madonna. Sure, she’s a bit (okay, really) full of herself, but at least she didn’t throw a little hissy fit in front of millions of viewers. Talk about making a scene!

  • Anthony Bourdain and Paula Deen

When Paula Deen, the butter-loving queen of Southern cooking, made an announcement in January 2012 about having diabetes for three years, many people were surprised. But celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain was furious. The man who once dubbed Deen “The most dangerous person in America” criticized the fact that she endorses her fatty recipes while simultaneously hawking diabetes medication as a spokesperson for Novo Nordisk. He tweeted, “Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking business, so I can profitably sell crutches later.”

True to her sweet, grandmotherly persona, Deen thanked her fans for their support and ever-so-sweetly told him to “Get a life.”

The Winner: Paula Deen. What Deen did was shady, but there’s no need to kick a girl when she’s down. She has diabetes; that plus the drop in sales for her cookbooks is punishment enough.

  • Jerry Seinfeld vs. Lady Gaga

In June 2010, Lady Gaga pissed off a whole bunch of people—including Jerry Seinfeld—when she flipped them the bird during a Mets game. Apparently this temper tantrum was directed toward the photographers nearby, and she was later moved into Jerry Seinfeld’s personal box, which was empty at the time.

When asked about it later, Seinfeld was upset that she was offered his box, so he bluntly called her a jerk and mocked her immature behavior. Lady Gaga responded by claiming that a middle finger is standard “New York” behavior, while the Mets, not Gaga, apologized to Seinfeld. Go figure.

The Winner: Jerry Seinfeld. Even though Seinfeld was a bit dramatic (he wasn’t even there!), Lady Gaga should have apologized to the fans for her over-the-top temper tantrum.

  • Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift

By now, everyone knows the story (and has probably seen the video a couple dozen times). After Taylor Swift won Best Female Video at the 2009 VMA awards, Kanye West stormed the stage, ripped the microphone out of Swift’s hand, and ranted about how Beyoncé should have won instead.

The doe-eyed, obviously shocked Swift received support from the audience as she left the stage, while West got angry glares and bad press for months (no, years). He later apologized, but it won’t be long before it happens again—this guy sure knows how to piss people off!

The Winner: Taylor Swift. Even if you think Swift is obnoxiously naïve and immature, no one can watch this video and feel that West was anything less than a big jerk.

  • Jennifer Aniston vs. Angelina Jolie

The king of all celebrity feuds, this fuss, which started in 2005, still manages to make the cover of gossip magazines every single week. When Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt divorced in 2005, rumors circulated about Pitt having an affair with Angelina Jolie. Aniston refused to talk trash about her ex-hubby and his lover, so she denied the affair. Meanwhile, Pitt and Jolie decide it would be a good idea to do a husband-wife photo shoot in  W, and play house in public with Jolie’s son Maddox. As if they hadn’t rubbed it in Aniston’s face enough already, Jolie later spoke publically about how her romantic relationship with Pitt grew while on the set of  Mr. and Mrs. Smith- a time when Aniston and Pitt were still married. Aniston then went so far as to call Jolie “uncool” and “inappropriate.” Those are fighting words! The Winner: Jennifer Aniston. While some people are diehard Team Aniston or Team Jolie, even the most morally skewed among us know what Jolie did was wrong. Photo Source: "Entertainment Life":

  • Tom Cruise vs. Brooke Shields

For those who don’t remember, there was a time when Tom Cruise went a little crazy, and this little fiasco in May 2005 was right in the thick of it. Because psychiatric medicine is against his Scientology beliefs, Tom decided to criticize Brooke Shields for taking an antidepressant for her postpartum depression. As an alternative, Dr. Cruise suggested vitamins and exercise. For her rebuttal, Shields sarcastically pointed out that Cruise had never had postpartum depression and mentioned that his remarks were a disservice to mothers everywhere. Realizing how much this comment could hurt his Tom Cruise empire, he later apologized to her—and they lived happily ever after.

The Winner: Brooke Shields. Tom Cruise managed to alienate more than 50 percent of the population in one interview, and though he did make amends, Shields was bashed for something she couldn’t control.
