Its Outrageous

I discovered this website yesterday and just in time I think. I feel the need to vent. So first, thank you DivineCaroline. Thank you!

I was driving home from work yesterday morning at 6:15 a.m., from a long twelve hour shift at work. I am dispatcher for the state police. It was not a busy night and I was grateful. This job is rewarding, but can also be very stressful. Dispatchers take their job very seriously. We have people’s lives depending on us. Every day. We work holidays. We are essential personnel, so when roads are closed due to floods or nor’easters, we are still out there trying to get to work. It’s just a part of the job.

But back to my drive home. I had the radio on, and I hear that a baseball player was just given a nine year contract for $214 million dollars. Yes … that’s $214 million dollars. Wow. It boggles my mind. It really does. Will it ever stop?  These outrageous salaries?  Actors, Actresses, sports figures, singers, etc … all the people who entertain us, just keep reeling in more and more money. Outrageously so. Yet we, the people who go to work every day, have honest jobs and are every bit as good at what we do, struggle to make ends meet with our meager salaries. We long to take the kids to a baseball game or a movie every week, but it is a luxury for most, and just does not happen. It costs too much. And forget about taking wonderful family vacations. Another luxury so few can afford.

I wish somehow.. The powers that be, would just say no. No more of these outrageous salaries. Let’s start putting all this money back into reducing the tickets prices for games, movies, concerts etc. Give back to the people. Its wishful thinking. I know. But I wish it none the less. I was always told life is not fair. None of this comes as a surprise to me. Just saddens me and frustrates me. But I will get up tomorrow morning. Thankful for all I am blessed with and move on. Frustrated but move on.

Thank you for letting me vent !
