“Par for the course,” she said, after hearing that her mother had called her soon to be ex-husband and apologized to him for having to go through the divorce. Not knowing any of the details of what led to the end of the relationship, nor did she need to know.

“Ironic really,” she continued, “my mother could never show me the same compassion she showed others, including strangers.”

“Why is it that the people who are supposed to love you the most, often show you the least?” She forgave her mother for her inadequacies, and chose to believe that her mother really had no control over herself. It made life more tolerable for her.

“Par for the course,” she said smiling.
