It was a day or so after the New Year, and my boyfriend and I had been housebound by a snowstorm that struck shortly after Christmas. On the day I took this photo, the sun was shining brightly and his neighbors were shoveling snow in shorts. We struck out west into the foothills of the Rockies, and I snapped this shot of a pristine, fence-enclosed field. Even the clouds seemed to conspire to draw our eyes towards the mountains, further into the great outdoors.
