Sweet Music

The songs sung by singing robins is luxury
Within the depths of countless souls,
Not a missed note or note off key;
If one listens—
Uninhibited,
sweet sounds,
fragrant like jasmine,
On a warm summer day;
Songs softer than last night’s howling wind,
Songs stronger than the splashing brook
Stroking stones and rocks along its fashioned bed;
They sing songs to summer’s new moon,
And two lovers meant to be alone,
kiss beside their childhood pond,
still waters smooth as blue glass,
reflecting their love;
Singing robins perched high on wires slung across the sky,
perched upon ancient knotted trees bearing long branches,
perched upon the newly grown twigs of cherry trees,
leaves of green, and robins sing,
Sweet music within the depths of my soul.
