Needless to say, it’s been a long, weird journey leading up to tonight’s final rose ceremony on The Bachelor. We’ve watched as dozens of women vied for bachelor Ben’s heart, clearly not concerned that he has the personality of a rice cake and his doppelgänger is Francine Frensky from the children’s show Arthur (No, really. Google “Francine Frensky”). We listened to more gag-inducing cheesy metaphors than we care to admit as we followed the lovers from small-town Sonoma to the final destination, Zermatt, Switzerland, where Ben pops the question to either villain-model Courtney or country bumpkin Lindzi at the base of the Matterhorn.
As Ben or any of the contestants would say, Switzerland is the perfect place to fall in love, what with the majestic snow-covered mountain tops, endless metaphor-inducing cliffs, and the never-ending opportunities to travel by helicopter. And lucky for all of us dedicated Bachelor fans, a romantic Swiss getaway is no longer just an unattainable pipe dream. Switzerland tourism is offering up a ridiculously amazing sweepstakes and a couple of packages for purchase, all inspired by Ben’s romantic Switzerland adventures. How do you know your country has hit rock bottom? When you visit the tourism website only to be welcomed by Ben Flajnik’s face plastered next to an image of the Matterhorn and a tagline reading “Hot Romance in the Swiss Alps.” Despite the apparent desperate cry from Switzerland, I’ll be entering all of these contests; I’ve watched every episode, many of which are comparable to observing a duck float across a pond, and let me tell you, anyone who’s put up with Mr. Personality for the past few months deserves a stiff drink and one of these trips. Here’s a rundown of the packages up for grabs!
The Bachelor Ultimate Getaway Sweepstakes includes four prizes to destinations that Ben and his aficionados traveled to during the season including Park City, Utah, Panama, Belize, and Switzerland. Each trip includes stays in the same luxury resorts that The Bachelor contestants binge drank, bickered, and had meltdowns in, along with a slew of fancy dinners and spa treatments. We can only hope that the hotel maids are very, very skilled at their trade.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to drop a cool three thousand, the “Bachelor Romance Package,” available from Rail Europe, Inc, is a great option. It includes a four-night hotel stay at either the Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa or the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof, plus a first or second class rail component. Now you and your lover can pretend to be, as Courtney would say, “so very Swiss” for only $2,973 dollars per person!
Finally, the Victoria-Jungfrau’s Bachelor’s Rose Package includes a three-night stay at the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa, three romantic breakfasts in bed, one exclusive candlelit dinner, one couples massage, limo service, and one five-star picnic basket for a romantic hike through the Swiss Alps. You can sit in the exact same meadow where Ben and Courtney played a riveting game of “Hey Cow!” and dine in the same restaurants where Ben and his lovers didn’t touch their five-star meals. Talk about a dream!
Interested in checking out these packages? Visit the Switzerland tourism website. And don’t forget to tune in to ABC tonight at 8 p.m. PST to see who Ben will ultimately divorce and check back tomorrow for our final recap!
