Red Carpet Recap: The Best of Holiday Movie Premieres

This was the week of holiday movie premieres. With "New Year's Eve," "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," "Young Adult," and other flicks hitting theaters this weekend, that meant several red carpets crowded with festive star-studded style. Here are some of the sartorial highlights!
  • Fergie

Fergie is just like us! She likes to resemble a disco ball around the holidays, as evidenced by the razzle-dazzle cocktail dress by Monique Lhuillier she sported at the Los Angeles premiere of New Year’s Eve.

  • Katherine Heigl

Sure her hair belongs on the set of Steel Magnolias, but we love the subtle lace detailing on her Dolce & Gabbana dress.

  • Lea Michele

Nothing says New Year’s Eve like a dress that resembles a glass of champagne. We’re not too sure we like the sheerness of the skirt or the peasant-dress hem, but the plunging neckline on this Valentino does wonders for Lea Michele’s famous clavicle.

  • Michelle Pfieffer

It’s official: Michelle Pfieffer does not age. She looks fantastic in this plum-colored Dolce & Gabbana.

  • Sofia Vergara

We suspect she’d look good in anything, but no one can go wrong with a structured bodice and a sweetheart neckline, like on this Zac Posen stunner.

  • Paula Patton

At the German premiere of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, star Paula Patton’s highly reflective Vivienne Westwood dress makes a serious case for Mission Impossible: Holographic Reptiles. But her killer legs help pull off the dress’s barely-there length.

  • Ari Grayor

This flesh-toned sheath with a metallic lace overlay, worn by Ari Grayor at the New York premiere of The Sitter, is giving us visions of sugarplums.

  • Angelina Jolie

At the Los Angeles premiere of her directorial debut, In the Land of Milk and Honey, Jolie chose a navy blue asymmetrical Romona Keveza gown—stunning, but still sedate enough for a film about genocide.

  • Charlize Theron

As the face of Dior it’s hardly surprising she would choose this dress Young Adult premiere in New York. Its modest silhouette is offset by the orange-red leather.

  • Carly Craig

Chartreuse was one of 2011’s hottest colors, and Carly Craig from Young Adult has the perfect complexion and hair color to pull this dress from Chagoury Couture's spring 2012 collection off.

  • Rachel McAdams

The floor-length silver Marchesa dress, with a boatneck in the front and a plunging cowl in the back, made Rachel McAdams the epitome of holiday glamour at the Hollywood premiere of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

  • Noomi Rapace

Sherlock Holmes star Noomi Rapace proves stripes and dots do complement each other—at least when it comes to this Carolina Herrera gown, which she sported at the film’s UK premiere.

  • Kelly Reilly

Kelly Reilly’s strawberry locks look smashing against her jewel-tone gown.

  • Tinsley Mortimer

Sorry, Tinsley’s face, but those shoes stole the spotlight at the New York premiere of War Horse. We’re also ecstatic to see a celebrity wearing a pair of pumps that are not nude.
