The Best Sunglasses for Your Face Shape

Lately my dreams consist of wearing my sunglasses for weeks at a time instead of a mere once or twice a week to battle the glare from the snow. So in preparation for warmer temps and lots of sunshine, finding the perfect pair of shades is at the top of my to-do list. But before you can find the perfect pair, you need to determine your face shape to know which style will work best for you.

Oval faces are longer than they are wide with a rounded chin. Lucky you! Oval shaped faces can wear just about any type of sunglasses, just make sure they are proportional to your face. Like Krystal from This Time Tomorrow, try a pair of over sized or cat-eye sunglasses.

Round faces have few to no angles. The length and width of the face tend to be similar, the cheekbones are the widest part of your face. Pick out a pair of sunglasses in a shape opposite of what you are to create angles and balance. Rectangular or square-shaped sunglasses, such as these glasses as worn by Julie from Sincerely Jules, are a perfect answer.

Square or angular faces have prominent features such as broad forehead or angular jaw line. Try a pair of retro-inspired or circular frames like Mariann from Cashmere in Style

Heart shaped faces have a wide forehead, high cheekbones, and a pointy chin/narrow jawline. Try sunglasses with a wide bottom such as cat-eyes or aviators or to highlight those amazing cheekbones. Or check out rimless styles similar to this pair worn by Ali from A Dash of Details.
