Incorporating color into your summer wardrobe is as easy as sunbathing in the July heat. It’s just part of the equation. My closet is not full of color, and I am working on that, but I know one thing: If I’m going to rock bright colors, it’s going to be in the summer, preferably holding a glass of iced lemonade!
Color can often be overdone if it's not worn wisely. Especially bright, vivid tones. While we see some colors trend more than others from summer to summer, we can hold fast to our faith that bright colors and summertime are a match made in style Heaven.
Orange, yellow, fuchsia, green, and cobalt blue, are among the most popular colors in the summer months. My main tip on wearing color is to make sure it's toned down by something else you’re wearing. For example, in the photo above on the left, Blake Lively is wearing a bright coral maxi skirt, adorned with a neutral, basic white tank top. She tops it off with denim, and characteristic of her style, pulls the look together.
Leighton Meester, in the middle, is braver and taking a step deep into citrus land pairing orange and yellow. Not something I would have done right off the bat, but seeing it worn with such class and unparalleled beauty, I see I have a thing or two to learn about stepping out…in color.
Again in the photo on the right, Blake keeps it fun and trendy by wearing an orange and yellow romper, with those beautiful, colorful layered necklaces, and goes for the va-va-voom with a structured Kelly green bag, striking the perfect balance.
