Fall Fashion Trend: Oversized Sweaters

When I think of oversized sweaters, I think of cold winter mornings and a big cup of coffee (make that two cups) and cuddling up with a good book. Maybe that's why I'm constantly reaching for this comfortable outerwear in my wardrobe. Luckily for me, this fashion trend is going to be at an all-time high this fall and winter. Whether it’s a chunky knit pullover sweater, skinny jeans, and booties like Danielle (on the left in the image below), a lightweight pullover sweater tucked into a maxi skirt (like Emily next to her), or an open printed cardigan sweater, jeans, and heel like Helena (on the left), you can bet that I'll be rocking this fall fashion trend all season long!

Since Arizona—where I live—is a very hot state and, let's be honest, our winters don’t start until mid November (if then), being completely bundled up just isn’t an option. One of my favorite ways to wear an oversized sweater is with skirts, dresses, or shorts. I absolutely love layering! In the picture above, I threw on a comfy pullover sweater over a lightweight sundress, which is ideal for us West Coast natives. Here's another way I’d style a pullover sweater over a dress.

One key point that I want to stress when creating this look is wearing a long necklace. When you're wearing a loose, oversized sweater you don’t want to look like you're shapeless. Pop on a long necklace to balance out the look and elongate your torso like Nicole did below!

Now it's your turn: Go grab your favorite oversized sweater, pair it with an unexpected bottom, and accessorize for a fun juxtaposition look for this fall and winter.
