Feathers: How to Wear the Trend

The feather trend of 2014 is not the single plume hanging from an ear lobe or hot glued to a headband. Many of the full-feather looks we saw on the runway from Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, and Oscar de la Renta are eveningwear: Long, red-carpet worthy gowns and short whimsies reminiscent of The Great Gatsby.

The key to wearing the feather trend is to streamline your look: Pair plumes with pointy-toe heelsskinnies, or a short skirt so you don't get lost in the fluff. See how these bloggers wear the trend.

Anh from 9to5Chic pairs plumes with sleek textures and cuts. Take a note from her stylebook and let a simple color scheme and smart tailoring emphasize the feathers.

A full-on feather ensemble is fabulous, but if you're dabbling in the trend, try a feather accessory. Irina from A Portable Package wears a little feather on her strappy heels, and it works. Dress them up with an LBD or pair them with boyfriend jeans for a bit of flair. If you don't want to splurge on feather heels, try attaching a feather clip to your favorite pair.

Or go for more feathers like Blair from Atlantic-Pacific. She sports a feather skirt with a denim shirt and graphic sweater. Suprising and fun!
