Statement Necklaces: Rock One with Confidence

When it comes to accessorizing, I take my job seriously. I don’t play when it comes to making statements of bling and glam. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that you can take an outfit from rags to major glam by throwing on the right necklace.

A little black dress? So 2012. A little black dress with a stunning gold necklace? Now we’re talking. These style mavens have taken the statement necklace to the next level.

Our girl Kim K is notorious for her neutral color choices and simple dresses. She works it just right by adding statement necklaces that take her outfit from normal—borderline boring—to business glamour. While this slender nude dress hugs Kim's curves beautifully, the beautiful necklace she's wearing draws all the attention to her face. Side note: That’s something I love about statement necklaces. It takes the attention off your body and puts it on your face. Even with blue jeans and a white tee, this necklace would scream boho chic.

Olivia Palermo, looking chic as ever, added a more simple statement necklace to an otherwise statement outfit. The black necklace contrasts with the white top to pull the entire look together. This look is one of my favorites because it is a non-conventional spin on the use of statement jewels. We typically think of a statement piece as an asset to dress up a less dressy item. However, in this case, Olivia adds on to an already beautiful standout dress.

Statement necklaces are also no stranger to the red carpet. Stylish stars like Emma Stone dazzle with necklines full of jewels to add even more sparkle to an already glamourous look.

Stylish mama Rachel Zoe rocks her statement necklace with her everyday getup. She also stuck to her normal neutral color palette, but dressed up her look with a chunky gold stunner necklace. The necklace adds a refined and elevated element to her outfit.

Point proven: Statement necklaces are extremely versatile. They can be dressed up or down, worn with high or low necklines, used to adorn a collared shirt, added to a dress, or can refine the simplest of tees. The possibilities are endless.

When thinking of adding a statement necklace, remember a few tips and tricks to help:

  • If you’re adding a standout statement necklace, let it pop with a simple outfit or neutral color.
  • Let the statement necklace speak for itself. Keep the rest of your jewelry minimal.
  • If you have a larger bust, opt for a shorter necklace that doesn’t lie directly on your chest.
