I would rather eat glass than watch women's basketball
It's slow, unathletic and unexciting. I've tried to watch it. I went to a big ten school and like watching college and some pro basketball, but I simply CANNOT watch women's basketball. Unlike women's tennis or volleyball, women's basketball is like watching my seven year-old nephew's games. I'm genuinely surprised the WNBA is still in business!

Sadly, despite my adoration for the game, I still cannot get myself to watch women's basketball. I don't know what it is. It just seems so much...s-l-o-w-e-r. Nonetheless, I think women's basketball players are just as great and athletic. However, I would pay to see a woman dunk! Just once!!!

I am probably biased because I played basketball for years. I love the game. Even though I have bad knees and can no longer play, I still love to shoot baskets. It is true that most women can't dunk so in that regard it is not as exciting as the men's game. However, it is much more of a team game than the men's game is. I enjoy the game of basketball and it is just as fun for me to watch a close women's game as it is to watch a close men's game. Title IX as helped provide opportunities for women in recent years and female basketball players have improved as a result. I believe as schools put more emphasis on quality facilities and coaches for women's programs, the players will continue to improve.
One thing that makes the women's games less exciting is the fact that in many instances, the crowd is smaller and this detracts from the atmosphere. When you have 12,000 fans supporting a team, it makes for a much more exciting game than if there are only 1,000 people in the stands.
Sarah, if you get the opportunity, try to watch a team like Duke, North Carolina, the University of Tennessee or University of Oklahoma play sometime. These are some excellent women's basketball teams and they have great fan support. You might even get to see Candace Parker (Tennessee) dunk!!!

You know, I have to say I don't watch the WNBA. But I think that might be because I'm used to watching the game played by men. Women play in a different way; it's subtle but it's there. I just can't believe that women's sports doesn't make interesting viewing (and I've heard this argument about other sports before); I'm hoping that we have to learn how to watch it. I mean, I see your point and feel your pain, but I think we should keep trying.
