Can someone give me an interpertation of this experience?

A couple of years back, I had a disturbing experience. To this very day I believe I was awake but most people I have explained this experience to seem to believe I was dreaming. You be the judge! I decided to call it a night, went to my bedroom, turned off all the lights and lay down to get some well deserved rest. My room was totally dark, just the way I loved to sleep. I had just begun to drift off to sleep, when I felt my blanket being gently pulled from my shoulders toward the foot of the bed. I then felt someone (or something) sit on the foot of my bed (left side). I struggled to move but found I could not. My bed is made with a mirror enclosed in the head of the bed, so I opened my eyes and tried to shift my eyes so that I could see the mirror. When I looked in the mirror I was startled to see a extremely bright light (sort of like a bright white light) that covered the entire foot of my bed. I still was not able to see what or who was sitting at the foot of the bed. In my mind I screamed “God have mercy on me...God help me!” I was so afraid and still could not move. Just when I thought I would surely die, my son, (whose room is right next to mine) woke up and turned on his light in his room. The light from his room illuminated around the edge of my bedroom door and the light at the foot of my bed disappeared. At this same time I found that I was also able to move and everything returned to normal. If you or anyone that reads this can explain this experience please do! I have talked to a priest, pastor, and even churchgoers to no avail. I have been told that the image of light was good as the light was bright. I was also offered the possibility that the person or thing that was seated on the foot of my bed was either an angel or God. I was told that the reason I could not see this image was because no one has ever seen God. I thought well if it was a angel, why couldn’t I see it? I have seen angels before
