Joint Pain during twin pregnancy

Jamie, I noticed that you just posted recently and your condition sounds exactly like mine. Except I thought I had a tick bite and went to the ER. I had a red rash on my legs that has now pretty much gone away, but it started with knee pain and has now spread to my ankles, elbows, wrist and hands. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant with our second for about 8 months and I never thought that the joint pain could be related to pregnancy. I still have a week before I can test, but thought I'd just look up joint pain and cam across this site. My question to you is, are you pregnant? And to anyone else reading this, has anyone else experienced joint pain so early in pregnancy?

Hi Cynthia. I am a new member and came across your post during a web search. It's now May and I was wondering what happened with your joint pain and if you are indeed carrying mulitples? I may be pregnant (testing this Wednesday) and have been having joint pain for the past week or so, mostly in my hands, wrists, and ankles. Thanks. Jamie

Well at my last ultra sound there was only one sac. I just thought it was strange for me to have joint pain so early on. Thanks for the feedback ladies.

I was pregnant and started having joint pain (in hips) at 5 weeks. Soon after, we found out I was carrying twins. I am not sure why this occurs, but my doctor said this can happen when you are carrying more than one. The theory you mentioned makes sense to me. Good luck!

cynthia are you having one or two?

I am 12 weeks preganant and experiencing terrible joint pain as well. My wrists, elbows, knuckles, knees and ankles hurt so bad that I do not want to move sometimes. Nothing alleviates the pain. I have had one ultrasound done by my Dr. at 8 weeks, which was not very thourough, so I do not really know if there are twins or not. I will be asking my Dr. this week to send me for arthritis testing or referrals to a specialist. Let me know how this goes for you!

Well now I am 8 weeks pregnant and I have my first ultrasound on Friday.

My knees hurt alot but thats the only joint pain. How far along are you? when is your first ultrasound?
