The Importance of Self-Reflection
10.23.2011 - 12:01 am

What’s your top goal this year? Most of us will have trouble answering that question quickly and simply. But if you don’t know what you want, how are you going to get there? Self-reflection is key to success.

My top goal this year is to expand my mind and step out of my box. Try new things and have wonderful new memories. Grow up in life a bit more and become wiser.

If you desire something from heart and soul, it happens, because everything in this world is Energy. If you don’t believe me read this article: http://www.anotherway.org/2011/05/achieve-personal-satisfaction-grab-your-life-and-make-it-better-begin-today/

My top goal this year is to…. do everything that needs to be done… and still have time for kids and me. It’s such a juggle. Trying to keep the money flowing, and yet not missing out on my kid’s teen years that are so important to keep an eye on.

Knowing what you want is the first step… but working out how to get it… that takes even more reflection, because there is always that choice to make where something has to take a back seat.

Self-reflection is very important. You need to look at yourself and see if you’re “stuck in a rut” or moving on. At this point in my life I am fairly happy most of the time, but really happy when my male friend is here. He helps me fix things around the house that are beyond my expertise. My goal right now is to get started with selling on eBay to bring in a little extra money and get rid of some of the “things” I don’t need. I’m stuck on the part about getting the photos online, but will study hard and learn to do it.

Yes self-reflection is necessary and very important. Sometimes its is difficult to know what you want and as a result you settle for a job untill you do know. I think knowing what one desires is associated with knowing who you are – knowing self; knowing what your cababilities are; your gifts and talents; and the arena that you would like to present yourself in – where you can showcase all the above! Not for any superficial reasons but to be the best you that you can be and as a result helping others to be all that they can be!! It’s in that arena that you self actualize- that you find joy, peace and contentment in what you are doing!

realizing I need to start thinking more outside of the box to reach that goal... I was starting to think I might not make it. I might not make it using my *current approach* - and it's given me a whole new motivation to find a way to meet my goal no matter what! :)

Thinking outside the box is something that all of us suffer from. It is so much easier to stay in our safe, secure place and not assume the risks of change. Sometimes it is an actual fear; other times it is just reluctance to try something new. In order to set goals and work to achieve them, it is necessary to know what we are capable of and where we want to grow. That self-reflection helps us to choose goals that are SMART – specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. Organization helps us progress along to ultimately achieve our goals.

Not let my ego get in the way of making good choices, doing good work and having fun.

I’ve realised my ego will probably always be with me, unless I miraculously evolve into a zen-esque swami overnight. So, its about observing when my ego is at play in my works or behaviors, and letting it go on the spot!

Interesting that most of our goals are about presence and debt. Maybe there’s a business idea in that!

My top goals…starting my college education and creating a healthier life style for myself and my daughter.

I have to say mine this year is different from years past. No workgoals (really) nary a fitnessgoal (well kinda :)) and more an overarching goal of BEING PRESENT.
In all that I do.
With friend, family and most especially my daughter.

My goal is to get through this year of moving, selling a house and feeling overwhelmed so that NEXT YEAR I can feel more in control! By the end of the year, I want to be entirely debt free except for my house. That was a goal two years in the making so I hope to finally get there!
