Projects with kids
We're talking about projects with kids here at the Real Time Lounge. Suggestions have included making worm bins, bringing the dirt indoors and letting kids stick their feet in a bucket of mud and walk all over a large sheet of paper. A cool idea was to plant your state grass or flower or study plant origins, plant migration, and gardening techniques from around the world. Gardening with kids should be fun, not a chore, so get kids interested and they make be rewarded with a lifetime love of gardening. Raise a painted lady butterfly and let kids follow their life cycle and then release when mature. Grow vegetables and let kids get dirty troweling the earth, planting seeds, and then harvesting the vegetables. We're so excited here at the show to see how interested people are in involving their kids at the garden.

I loved the idea of adding a name tag of each child to the growing vegetables in the garden. They can really get involved and feel proud of their own veggies. Then you can take it to the kitchen and make their own signature recipe.
