I am convinced more and more that we should consider changing our perspective on how we acquire some degree of happiness in our lives. I am of the opinion that we all want the best things out of life for ourselves, our children, our families, and the communities we live in. If our desires go beyond self, then why do we spend so much time on advancing our individual agendas with no regard to others?
So many people are suffering and struggling with internal battles of social and spiritual maladies, self-identity, relationships, financial matters, health issues, etc. We are comfortable with looking the other way as if none of these things exist. Our reasoning has become, “I’m doing me right now,” or “I don’t have time,” or “It’s not my problem!” We have become so accustomed to placing limitations on our capabilities that we don’t even give a second thought to blessing someone else. We fail to realize that opportunities to bless someone else present themselves daily. We miss them because our focus is, “Where’s my blessing?”
We’ve got it all wrong … the blessings of abundance and increase, personal fulfillment, prosperity, longevity, contentment, and gratification comes when we are of service to others. If you’re looking for a blessing, be a blessing to someone else.
