How many times do you find yourself saying that? I am a self taught designer in Bergen County, NJ andseems as though some daysit's my mantra. YucThis economy sucks.Yup there are times that want to pack it in and close my brick and mortar shop (winnie & belle in Midland Park,NJ)and just find a regular job that gives me a paycheck for mindless, boring work.
What keeps you artists and designers going in this crazy time?It seems as though I spend half of my day in the bowels of Social Mediapromotioning and the other half designing my one-of-a-kind jewelry and gifts as well as running my shop. It's unfortunate that I literally spend 50% of my promotion time seducing people toSHOP LOCAL andencouring people to " step away from the MALL ".
I am amazed that every day I wake up hopeful, witha positive attitude, hanging inuntil things shift. My shop has been open almost three years. That is 20 in "good economy" times. So I plug on believing in my work and hoping upon hope that …just around the next corner the economy will start recovering!
