An Open Letter to All Democratic Candidates About the War in Iraq

To all Democratic candidates:

The war in Iraq has continued to kill innocent civilians since the inception of the war in 2002. According to the Washington Post, an estimated amount of 100,000 civilians have been killed since the U.S. invaded five years ago. I would like to ask what is your plan to end war and bring peace to the people of Iraq? How will you bring an estimated of 130,000 U.S. troops back home? What time frame do you plan on bringing all the troops home? When you start your term, will you pull out of Iraq immediately or after your first year? I am concerned about this issue because it has not only killed innocent Iraqi civilians but it has also appeared to have caused more harm to their country and ours than it has helped the Iraqi people. It seems that our country has mostly done harm there, and it is best for our troops to pull out. More than 3,500 U.S. soldiers lost their lives in this war which has only worsened over time. The war has not been getting better nor has it been helping anyone. It has also caused the U.S. economy billions of dollars in which could have been used for other internal U.S. causes such as education and healthcare. My suggestion is bringing all U.S. troops home during the first year of the new presidency, and give the Iraqi government an opportunity to govern and manage their own people. They should also be given a chance to provide security and stability to their country.

Thank you.
