It’s no secret that I believe every day is cause for celebration. Still, I'm delighted when the rest of the world joins in – and one time everyone seems to? The first day day of May!
For centuries folks around the world have found all kinds of ways to commemorate May Day. Variously celebrated as the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Germanic festival of Walpurgis Night, May Day falls exactly half of a year from November 1, and according to Wikipedia, "marks the end of the unfarmable winter half of the year in the Northern hemisphere."
Have you every felt like you were in the unfarmable winter of the year?
Maybe that’s the joy of Spring — of May Day. The “all clear” is sounded, the last of the winter doldrums has passed. The warmth of the sun, the flowers in bloom, the winds of change – all standing invitations to come outside and play!
Don't think of May Day as a distress call, it is really your call to revel and cavort. In some parts of the world May Day celebrations go on for weeks! Sign me up!
Whatever May brings you, and however you may celebrate, celebrate. It’s a brand new month, a brand new day, a perfect opportunity to get busy!
