Yup, that’s the new ad for Target, a retail chain. That makes for a great advertisement. Whoever came up with it is brilliant, because it has the right mix of pushiness and cuteness. It pretty much tells us that life brings in something new every day and that shopping for those needs is all right and Target offers those things at great prices. It makes you believe that shopping and spending money at Target is not bad at all. Isn’t that cute and so-not-pushy? See, I told you the ad was a perfect blend. The ad actually made me think. Some commercials make me cry too. But that’s for another day!
Isn’t life a moving target? By the time, you have got things figured out and you are just about ready to hit the bull’s-eye, the target becomes something entirely different. When I was in college, I was still figuring out things about life, my identity, friends, and before I knew it, I had graduated and was out in the “real” world. Has that happened to you before? Or am I just a late bloomer? Then comes your first job, paycheck and just when you are having fun and figuring out about people, relationships, becoming comfortable in your own skin, your mom wants to get you married off and start your own family. You fall in love, learn about love and everything that comes with it, and prepare yourself to start your new journey as not one but “two.”
Now you know where this is going, right? After two comes three. I’m still figuring out the concept of two people living under the same roof 24/7. We have completed one whole year successfully, so I think I am ready for the next target. I have just figured out how to keep my fridge and my home organized and not let my vegetables rot and have learnt a thing or two about savings account, responsibilities, getting up early, making breakfast, and all the other ‘grown-up’ stuff. I’m thinking the next target would be to actually use my piggy bank and fill it up. Mmmm … or should I listen to my mom and make us “three?” Nah … maybe that can wait.
