Getting Kids to Cooperate

When schedules are tight and kids aren’t cooperative, life quickly gets stressful. Here’s a solution to encourage younger kids to help clean up, brush their teeth, play nicely together—even eat their vegetables!

Just get a blank book or notebook and a package of their favorite stickers. Every time they accomplish a given task (whatever it is they’re reluctant to do) paste a sticker “reward” in the book. Then, when they reach 50 or 100 stickers, give them a larger reward like a trip to the zoo or another favorite place. This way, they get the immediate gratification of earning a sticker in their own special book, plus they have something to work toward—special time with mom. It works!
