Detoxification the Easy Way

Now that the summer is quickly approaching, we all want to look and feel our best. There is so much to do from May through September. The sun is out and the water feels cool against our skin. But what about our insides?

Detoxification is the word. There are many ways to do this from Chelation therapy, which can get costly, to fasting and consuming nothing but water for a day or more. However, there is no need to be so hard on our bodies’ systems.

There are ways that you can clean out your insides without being harsh to your body.

Juicing is one of the best forms of detoxification. You can juice vegetables and fruits at will. The reason this is such a wonderful way to detoxify your system, is that by juicing you are not loosing any of the important nutrients your body needs, you don’t have to do this for fourteen days at a time, one day a week will suffice, and it is a relatively inexpensive way to help your system rebalance. It is also an excellent source of very important nutrients that we may not otherwise get.

There are some excellent books on the market to help you with your juicing if you have never done this before. One is titled The Juicing Bible by Pat Crocker and Susan Eagles. This is an excellent book to start your juicing journey.

If you don’t have a juicing machine, which can get pretty pricy for the really good ones, a day of eating nothing but fruits (except bananas) and drinking lots of water (no soda or coffee) will also help you get nutrients your body needs and help detoxify your system. This is followed with a day of eating nothing but vegetables (no salad dressing, but feel free to use lemon or balsamic vinegar) and chicken (not fried, should be grilled or baked). Lots of green veggies also stimulate your metabolism so you burn more calories. I find doing them on the grill with a little lemon juice or balsamic vinegar makes them taste wonderful.

You can get that little bottle with the dropper that says “Detoxification” and you add three to four drops to this or that. Have you ever tasted that stuff? Ew.

Fruits and vegetables are needed for our bodies to run properly. They are also the easier way of detoxifying our systems without it being very harsh on our bodies.

By doing this once a week, it helps our bodies rid itself of the toxins that build up from every day living. It helps the liver “breathe” so to speak, and gives it a break from all of the unhealthy things we put in our bodies.

It is also a very good, natural way to help clean out the colon. Foods high in fiber will keep our colon clean, helps us loose unwanted pounds and help us feel light.

There’s nothing better on a hot day than an ice cold cantaloupe, honeydew, mush melon, or watermelon. Juicing these melons makes for a wonderful sorbet. Vegetables taste better when juiced. Carrot juice is wonderfully sweet, but be careful, you don’t want to drink too much of this or your skin will get an orange glow. It is a great source of natural sugar.

Try juicing. You can juice fruits and vegetables as often as you like. It is one day out of your week and your body will thank you for it.
