Here Comes the Sun: Outdoor-Themed Decor for the Inside

Now that it’s officially spring, I have sunshine and warm afternoons on the brain. Problem is I recently relocated from sunny California to the soaking wet Pacific Northwest. This means that, while much of the country is warming up, I’m under a low-hanging, chilly cloud of rain, which inspired me to seek out home decor products that bring an outdoorsy feel inside. From birds to flowers and on to wild and abstract art, a few outdoor-inspired accents can infuse existing decor with some much-needed warmth. You’ll (almost) forget you’re inside.

A Changes-in-Latitudes Painting

A Flowery Rug

Don’t underestimate what’s under your feet. Invite in some summery brightness with this swirling and bursting vibrant rug. Tuck it under the foot of the bed or in front of the fireplace for a very unwintry burst of color. ($88–$998, Anthropologie.com)

Fantastic Forest Pillow

Toss a bright pillow on the couch for a quick burst of the outdoors—you’ll feel like you’re out in the jungle, too. ($128, Anthropologie.com)

Tree of Life Wall Sconces

Bring lush leaves inside with nature-inspired sconces. Since these candleholders mount on walls, get a double bang for your buck as they both illuminate and add a seasonal accent to the room. ($9.99–$14.99, WorldMarket.com)
