No-Carve Ribbon Pumpkin

Save time—and stress—with this no mess pumpkin decorating idea. It’s easier than ever to get a fashion-forward pumpkin design in half the time it takes to carve a classic jack-o-lantern. Watch this video to learn how.

You'll need

  • Rickrack
  • Fun patterned ribbons
  • Hot glue gun
  • Pumpkins

To spruce up your pumpkin display, pick a few of your favorite ribbons and go! Take one end of your ribbon and start at the top of the pumpkin. Drop a dab of hot glue on the stem of your pumpkin and place your ribbon on top. Hold it until it dries before running the ribbon down the side. You can use the lines of the pumpkin as a guide. Run it down the side of the pumpkin, all of the way to the bottom. Be sure to keep it tight so there aren't any gaps in the material and it doesn't hang loosely. When you get to the bottom, add another dollop of glue and stretch the ribbon, nice and tight, over the glue. Hold it in place until it dries. Use scissors to snip off the extra material and repeat with different patterns and sizes of ribbon all of the way around. Try to keep the spacing even so there aren't any big gaps. These make great table displays, but also work in windowsills or porches.
