“Fire and Ice” Romantic Celebration for Two

Make this Valentine’s Day (or any winter evening) one to remember with a “Fire and Ice” celebration for two. Skip the reservations and crowds this year and create your own intimate retreat. Follow our “From Russia with Love” tips and you’re sure to turn up the heat while sending chills down your flame’s spine.

Setting the stage is easy. Simply click and buy the dinner and dessert and add a few special touches—we’ve laid the groundwork, now it’s your turn to have some fun. Just follow the three easy steps in our Partybluprints™ e-party plan outline and your special evening will be most memorable

Step 1

Get Romantic with a Red Russian Champagne Cocktail. This cocktail is delicious and has a great tart taste that will have your partner puckering up!

Ingredients:
1/2 oz. Vodka
4 oz. Brut Champagne
1 oz. Cherry Juice
Sugar Cube

Preparation:
Pour vodka in a champagne flute, add cherry juice and fill with champagne. Drop in a sugar cube to add some sweetness and create a fizz. Try sugar cubes from Sur La Table. They are red and white shaped hearts with a notch that is perfect for sitting them elegantly on the rim of a Champagne flute. Let your loved one drop it in and create their own fizz!

FYI:
Did you know? Cherries are great for your heart and have more antioxidants then green tea or pomegranates!

Step 2

Share a new tasting experience, Russian specialties from the famed Petrossian. “For more then eighty years the Petrossian Family has maintained a rare and privileged relationship with the Russian fisheries. Even today, the family personally chooses, on site, the very best of the fresh high quality caviar produced in Russia.”

Simply purchase the Bijoux de la Mer Gift Basket and Desserts below from Petrossian and you’ll have everything you need.

Bijoux de la Mer Gift Basket:

250g of Trout Roe
8 oz. of moist, meaty Smoked Black Cod
8 oz. of Smoked Sea Scallops
8.8 oz. of velvety Classic Sliced Smoked Salmon
1 dozen Mini Blini
a 14 oz. can of Petrossian Lobster Bisque, enriched with chunks of lobster and heady notes of Armagnac
8 oz. of creamy, flavor-rich Smoked Trout Dip
7.5 oz. of Creme Fraiche
3 1/2 oz. mild and creamy Horseradish
and a package of buttery Baguette Toasts

Here are some of our favorite serving ideas from the Petrossian.

To create a “Beggar’s Purse”, one of Petrossian’s most popular appetizers, gather the salmon into a “purse”, tie with a chive and top with caviar and voila! A treat fit for a Tsar!

To prepare Smoked Scallops, slice and serve on baguette toasts with a touch of creme fraiche or simply serve whole on a platter.

Chocolate Truffle Sampler:
Finish your meal with one or both of these decadent treats, also available through Petrossian. On Valentine’s Day, or any romantic winter’s eve, chocolate is an essential element! These award-winning truffles are intensely flavorful, and full of surprises. The 9-piece selection includes Passion Fruit enrobed in white and dark chocolate, Milk Chocolate Ganache, Orange-Scented Soft Caramel, Dark Chocolate Ganache, Chile-Limon Mayan Truffle mixing zesty lime and fiery chiles, Kaffir Lime with Coconut and Ginger, Salted Butter Caramel, Lemon Supreme and Zinfandel-Balsamic Truffle. Bliss in every bite!

Hot Chocolate-on-a-Stick:
Fire and ice in a truly unique form, the heat from the hot milk will melt the cool cube of fine Belgian chocolate, ingenious and delicious! Simply steam up the milk or heavy cream and swirl these “cool cubes” of fine Belgian chocolate in the hot liquid. As the cool chocolate surrenders to the heat, you’ll enjoy a mighty fine cup of hot chocolate!

Step 3

Add your own special touches. Here are a few to get you started:

Set the scene for a romantic evening. If you have a fireplace, clear the floor directly in front, spread out a blanket and arrange some throw pillows for comfortable lounging. If you have a faux fur blanket, drape it on the side for cozying up later with a cocktail (a shot of iced vodka is a nice touch). If you don’t have a fireplace, locate a cozy corner, light some candles for your “fire” and follow the instructions above. Have the fire lit and lights dimmed when your date arrives.

Create a music play list not only as an important element of your romantic evening, but as a love letter to your date and as a keepsake of the evening. You can easily create your play list on iTunes. Turn on the music before the evening begins to get into the romantic mood of your evening.

Create a Fire and Ice display as an added inspiration to your evening.

Instructions:
Cut an empty 1/2 gallon milk carton in half. Rinse thoroughly. Place a large pillar candle in the bottom of the clean milk carton make sure the top of the candle, especially the wick, sits above the top of the carton. Stuff red rose buds around the base of the pillar candle and fill the carton half of the way with water. Place the carton in the freezer, making sure the carton and candle sit level. Freeze until the ice is solid. When the block is frozen solid, dip the carton in warm water briefly, then peel the paper away exposing your fire and ice display. Set the block on tray/pan to catch any drips and place it back in the freezer until just before “show time.” To display, place the candle in a shallow bowl to catch the water as the ice melts.

Cheers To The Season of Love,
The Partybluprints Girls
