Combining colors can be a heady experience. For example, there was a room that went from a pale, almost grey lavender to a two-tone yellow with red-brown trim. Not only was it a visually warmer room, there was a lot more energy in the room. It took a lot of courage to go from one extreme to the other, but realize, with paint, you can always do something else. Paint is one of the least expensive in materials we can use to change our environment.
Another example of color use— Being on a budget, a Safari Woman needed to purchase a couch that would be “perfect” for her living room, but only had enough for a plain couch without many extra details. She bought the couch in black and splurged to have the large accent pillows that went along with it made black on one side and leopard print on the other. Instant change in mood. With a khaki blanket and a few other pillows, it is the perfect couch she wanted.
That is something to be noted. Prints, such as an animal fur, should be considered in the general color range the overall print has. The leopard has black, which matched the couch, but it also had yellows, browns, and oranges. If she had gone for khaki for the upholstery, it would be less adaptable and set the tone in too broad of a way. Also, khaki, being a beige-green, has variations, and as such can clash with other things that are just enough different that looked good at the store. Having accents in a signature color, like khaki, instead of as main colors can be a cleaner way of fixing up your home.
Things like wood, stone, and other materials can be grouped in the color ranges or in the general image feel of the material: for an example, marble is good for the Princess or Goddess.
Now, you probably noticed that I put the colors into groups in the previous articles, some colors spanning several groups. This makes it easier to put colors together for the images, at least for me.
