Has your home office paper trail grown weedy and unruly? One easy way to tackle that overgrown paper jungle is to break up the task rather than doing it all at once. Go through ten file folders each day, and get rid of anything that’s outdated or no longer useful. Note: To be safe, keep all federal tax returns and supporting documents for at least six years. Then, be sure to shred documents you’re discarding if they contain sensitive information like your social security number or bank account numbers.
