I knew it was over as I walked away.
I didn’t feel the sun should be shining that day.
As I looked back, I saw tears in your eye.
And I started to remember all the years that went by.
The love we had was very real and true
But I was committed to someone and so were you.
It was very hard to let you go.
But I knew in my heart, this was right, you know.
Even though what we felt for each was wrong people would say.
I will always cherish the moments, at the closing of each day.
Sneaking around, stealing kisses here and there.
Will not make a good relationship if you really care.
I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do.
But that doesn’t stop the love I feel for you.
As I look back, I am thankful for what we had then.
Even though it is so sad to see our relationship end.
