Valentine’s Day — yes, it’s a commercial holiday. The exact origins are a bit cloudy and have something to do with the martyr of one of three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus. Neither here nor there, Valentine’s Day as it exists today is supposed to be a celebration of love. It's made out to be a time to give candy, gifts, massages, fancy dinners and sometimes, even an engagement ring. This is fabulous, unless you happen to be single. Then, Valentine’s Day might be known as Black Thursday (insert day it falls on here).
I want you to stop hating Valentine’s Day. Seriously.
Even if you only hate it for the commercial day that it is now. Even if you think chocolate tastes terrible and roses are overdone. Make a mind-shift.
Don’t be a hater. Be a lover. Decide you don’t hate Valentine’s Day, but that you love everything and every one on Valentine’s Day. I'm not asking you to bow down to all the commercial rah-rah that goes with the holiday, just choose to stop saying out loud that you hate Valentine’s Day. Go ahead and negate the hate.
Why? Let’s begin with the biggest reason not to hate Valentine’s Day —> If you say you hate Valentine’s Day, you sound like a spinster, hater, bitter little girl. Besides, we all know you rock like no other, and you don’t need a day to prove it.
