There was an undeniable Old Hollywood hair trend going on at the 2013 Golden Globes. Did you notice? The majority of women walking the red carpet had some kind of variation on this vintage look. Just to name a few: Isla Fisher, Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, Jennifer Lopez, Rachel Weisz, Kelly Osborne, Megan Fox and Francesca Eastwood. Although I was a little surprised to see so many women show up to the same party with the same hair, I have to admit that I love the look. It's polished, it's feminine, it's sexy and it's special. If you're like me, then you always want "special" hair to accompany you when you're wearing a special gown.
Because there are so many ways to wear this look—Amanda Seyfried parted hers in the middle, while others (like Isla Fisher) wore theirs all to one side—this hairstyle is easier to do than you might think. You can also start the curls up high at the roots, cheek or jawbone to change the look depending on what you're going for.
To get started, make sure you have lots of product blow dried into your hair for a foundation. As always, I love mousse. Using a smaller curling iron than normal (I like a 3/4 inch) curl your hair all the way around your head, taking as even sections as possible, and curling all in the same direction. You want your curls to be uniform. Once you've finished, gently brush out the curls, starting at the bottom. This is what makes your hair look like a solid panel of waves, rather than separated and piecey. Spray with a shine spray, put on your fanciest gown and you're good to go.
While we're on the topic, my favorite altogether looks of the night were Emily Blunt, Kate Hudson, Michelle Dockery and Hayden Panettiere. Who did you love?
