By this time of year I start transitioning my makeup into fall shades, but the other day I wore a bold pink lip that made me feel beautiful and good about myself, so I decided that at least once a week, I have to mix it up by wearing something bright and bold. My pick for this mission of mine is The Lip Palette by Kevyn Aucoin. Its bright pink shade raked in no less than five compliments that day!
I first saw this palette at The Makeup Show NYC back in May, and was heartbroken when I couldn’t pick it up; turns out a friend beat me to it! When another friend gave it to me, I was ecstatic because this could quite possibly be the perfect lip palette, and at $42, I think it is well-priced for all the possibilities it can give you. I only wish I was able to rock this baby all summer long.
It has five shades: nude, deep nude, bright pink, deep pink, and red perfection. Individually, these shades are fantastic. They have a great long-wearing formula that is soft and creamy, yet packed with pigment. It doesn’t take much lipstick to deliver bold, pouty, luscious lips. I have not created my own custom shade with the palette yet—I’ve been savoring each shade separately— but the nude shades are great for toning down the pinks and reds in the palette. The nudes are also great on their own for a more neutral, everyday lip.
If you’re a Kevyn Aucoin fan like I am, there’s a lot to be excited about. The brand has a new creative director, Jeanine Lobell (creator of Stila Cosmetics), and it’s launching lots of new goodness next February. I can hardly wait!
