Tuesday at New York Fashion Week, Narciso Roridguez showed his namesake spring 2014 collection to a slate of industry influencers—Joe Zee, Robbie Meyers, Grace Coddington, Joanna Hillman, Ken Downing, Cindi Leive, Tonne Goodman, Jessica Alba, and Bill Cunningham to name a few. When Narciso described his collection, he was very clear that his spring collection was a continuation of his resort 2014 collection in which he played with texture and detailing to enhance simple lines. The new collection started out black and white with structured jackets, wrap skirts, crop tops, and dresses. The show quickly shifted into flowy silhouettes with his signature draping. We especially loved the mini dresses with asymmetrical trains that juxtaposed the structure of the garments and delicately embellished dresses adorned with fringe. It’s a collection that shows that attention to detail is embedded into Rodriguez’s DNA. One thing is for certain—the slip dress is making its way onto the must-have list for spring 2014, along with sheer pieces, paneling, and crop tops.
